(Un)Common Themes in Children's Stories

An assortment of movies viewed in recent weeks has revealed an unexpected pair of recurring themes in kids' movies. These themes are:
  1. Princesses repeatedly falling out of things and being caught
  2. Giant peaceful robots protecting children despite their sleeper-weapon programming
